Hailing from Los Angeles, California, A and P is a Pop/R&B duo consisting of brothers Andrew and Preston Wilmot. Both brothers are multi-instrumentalists in their own right, and have each been playing music from the time they were both 5 years old. A and P did not always play the genre they do now, in fact far from it.
Both Andrew and Preston were introduced to music through listening to hard rock and heavy metal records that their parents would play for them when they were kids. Through this they got into even heavier bands like Slipknot, Korn, and Bring Me the Horizon, and started forming metal bands of their own.
While there were definitely some high moments from this time period, Andrew and Preston also quickly learned about the dark side of being in the music industry and the debauchery that can come with it. Right before the pandemic hit in 2020, their previous band disbanded, and they were left wondering what to do next. Throughout this time they had begun to branch out and listen to different kinds of music and began to be inspired by artists like The Weeknd, Post Malone, and Travis Scott, and decided to write music in a similar style.
When the quarantine started, Andrew and Preston decided to pass the time by creating music along these lines, with Andrew singing and Preston creating the beats and producing. Drawing on both the crazy experiences they had while being in the metal scene, as well as the feelings of overall fear and uncertainty as a result of the pandemic, Andrew and Preston wrote the music for their debut EP. After almost a year of writing and revisions, they went into the studio to professionally record the EP in June of 2021. Now, at the ages of 23 and 20 respectively, A and P are planning to release the EP, which will be entitled, The Valley in 2023, with their debut lead single, "Lovestruck" releasing in Early 2023.
